I received beautiful squares from Els, for March. A very interesting, colorful square from a ribbon. And the others were two colors, reversable, and I can't quite figure out how the colors were reversed back to front, with a square within a square. Very unique. Thanks, Els. And I loved the card with the photo of you and your granddaughter! Kira

Kira, it looks like we received our squares at the same time.

I found the pattern for the double sided knitting in a Dutch magazine, and I have been playing and trying this idea out. I am getting better at it, but as you can see, I am still having some problems with the gauge.

You start the cast on with two colours of yarn. Used these as one thread and cast on as many st as you want or are needed. Now on the first row of knitting, you purl the first double stitch (both colours at the same time). Now you purl colour 1 stitch, with the colour 1 yarn. Move both yarns to the front of your knitting and knit with colour 2 yarn, colour 2 stitch. This way you knit two layer at the same time. The last double stitch is knitted again with both yarns at the same time. That gives a neat self edge all around. If you want your colour to change from the one side to the other, knit purl to stitches with the same colour, so the colours switch places. I hope I did explain this correctly. I am sure that there are several people her who have done this and can maybe explain it better. It is very simple once you have knitted a couple of rows. I use both hands for the knitting just as in fairile knitting, it works for me.

Let me know if you can make this out, other wise I will get my magazine out and can take some pictures of it for you
