My first project...a common mistake?

Hi Pam,

Yes, I use the same yarn for knitting and crocheting, usually the Red Heart SuperSaver as the afghans that I make must be machine washable and dryable. Now I've made myself two afghans from the 6x6 square exchange. You can also make a shawl, totebag or whatever you want with them. Care to join it some month?

Hugs,

Nora

:o) You're welcome!

See... Pam is encouraging me... I just might have to round up *more* URLs now, and it's all her fault. LOL She fed the animal in me! muhahahaha

Nora, you have to remember to add your URL after your signature so Pam and the others can have a look at your afghans. :o)

Lol! :D I won't be complaining! I have a whole "knitting" folder set up in my bookmarks now!

Hi Nora! How do you sew them together? With yarn? By hand?

Absolutely! When I'm a little quicker and know more than garter stitch and ribbing. I want to make fancy squares! Pam

Me too, with subfolders -- yarn companies, online stores, patterns, etc, the list goes on....

It's the other way around: making squares is a good way to learn to do more stitches than garter and ribbing. You aren't committed to a huge project, nor to a pattern if it turns out to be tricky or if you just don't like it. Colors can be any color you like, though it's kind of nice if they coordinate so that when you have a bag full of swatches, they make up into an afghan that looks planned.

Hi Pam,

Yes, I either weave them or do a single crochet and yarn for putting the squares together.

Here's my album so you can see what I've made with mine and other things too.

Hugs,

Nora

If you want ideas for stitches for 6X6 squares, both Noreen and Monica have posted some that I have used for mine. A search of the newsgroup should turn them up - if that doesn't work for you, ask and someone will help find them.
