well, it's snowing at near blizzard rate, but it's NOT a Nor-Easter... i don't care what the pretty weatherfaces on tv say, a Nor-Easter is a specific type of winter storm which happens when a warm air mass hits a cold air mass off the coast of Maine and strong *NORTH EAST* winds drive the resulting snowfall onshore. it's the New England winter version of a hurricane pet peeve of mine that the news sensationallizes every snowstorm as a Nor-Easter when so few actually are... my mom says it's been unseasonably chilly in Florida this year... but thanks for reminding me i should give her a call today! :) Happy belated Birthday to your grandmother too.

yup, i've already been out & fed the livestock & made sure there's enough water. the chickens will be kept locked in today & i bet i'll have to refill the wild bird feeders at least once. the dogs are loving the snow, but i need a rug by thier door to keep them from tracking it all over the house :)

Good morning from Connecticut where so far they estimate my town has already gotten 16" to 20" of snow. We were supposed to be in a part of the state that would get the least, but the storm came further north than expected so we're getting much more than predicted. They say it should keep snowing until about 6:00 tonight, 8 more hours. Lovely!

I've already been out to make a path for Dusty to do his business - I can see where having a tall dog would be an advantage - the snow is taller than Dusty.

Yes, just because snow is affecting the Northeastern U.S. does not make it a nor'easter. I take my pet peeve a step further: gently falling flakes are not a "storm"! Adding high winds, sleet, fluctuating temperatures, etc. (or, as in last night, thunder and lightning) -- yes, that's a storm, but just plain old snow is no more a storm than just plain old rain is.

My husband's out w/the snowblower now, since it's stopped here outside Baltimore, and I'm alternating between housework and that #$*&* cashmere laceweight scarf (the bamboo needle points get into the stitch better but I miss the way the sts slide on the shaft of the Addi Turbos). And e-mailing the rest of the family to compare notes on the snow, of course.

Yes, just a snow storm, a nor'easter has to last for three days!! It's so pretty we (N.H.) have had a pretty mild snowless winter so far and it has not seemed like winter. Unfortunately for the grandchildren this is light and fluffy, not the stuff snowmen are made of. My husband is in Florida on business so I guess I'll be the one to fire up the tractor and deal with it later, but right now I'm going to knit some stuff for my granddaughter's 18" American Girl Doll. Perfect project for a snowy day.

Good Morning from New Brunswick...Sun shine here but not for long..Snow will gently fall soon enough predicted light snow for tonight. South of here in Nova Scotia is supposed to get it and lots of it. We have been very fortunate this winter so far, lawn is bare but fields are lightly covered.

i have a Malamute & a Great Pyranees/Border Collie cross. i think they qualify as tall :) i'm hoping the barn cats stay in today. it might be taller than them... lee

Hi, What I can see so far ,we got only a few inches of snow here, (Va) thats fine with me, I don't drive in snow. I got my truck this year, but have not drove it in snow. I went to Michaels' this week and got woolease on sale,earth tones and ranch red to make soakers for gbaby, my dd is not a "pink" person. every thing she wears and home deco are all earth tones. Then I got a plastic tub full of yarn at a thrift store for 6 bucks.:) I've started a striped purse with some of it. I wish I could have a "snow day" and not go to work, I just want to Knit all Day!! Well, in upstate NY outside of Albany we have a dusting to an inch if that. When I went to bed last night around 11:30 they were saying 3-6 inches now we are down to less, it's all right with me. I agree it's been a weird winter so far, but DH says we will probably get a big snowstorm in April, sure hope he's wrong. Going to stay home today and crochet. Stay safe everyone,

I am glad that you aren't getting too much.

Well this time, we are getting the brunt. We have 15 inches in my backyard But it is beginning to stop and is getting brighter. DH and DS are working on the driveway and DD and her best friend are trying to use a sled on the hill. Kids always have so much fun in the snow. And I am supposing that the schools will be closed tomorrow or delayed.

The bird feeders are buzzing today. We've already refilled them.

No wonder your dogs are loving it. We used to have a Samoyed and snow made him act like a puppy in his old age. He absolutely loved it -- too bad it is so unusual here. We have had none all year - lots of rain but no snow.

I'm in Central East New Jersey and we had a drift in the front yard approx knee high. (uummm 20")

In the back (the wind side) it was as tall as the top of the hood (not roof) of the car. (uumm about 29 - ish inches)

I just put on a nother layer and dug everything out...

Watched someone 'driving' by the house sideways with all 4 wheels locked.... LOL!

Oh Joan, you definitly need hugs!! I can "see" you!! Here we have wonderful sunshine! A bit snow on the ground, but it's melting now, the "best way": In the sun; and not because of heavy rain, which is more normal here! LOL!
