cheerful ladies". I love Mma Ramostwe´s serie!

Have you read any of Kathy Reich's Tempe Brennan books? Of course, I am a bit biased because she was one of my professors at university, but they are best-sellers. :-) They're available translated into Norwegian

OHHHHH AUD ,, that is a Good book , one of the Best i read [ and Amos Oz is ussualy good ] but it is not a crime book. It is his Family Biography. And in A biblical way he tells once from his mother`s side , and once from his father`s side. He speaks about People , his parents knew who are now Street names in Israel.If you get my pun , Famous people who Made cultural and other contributions. Like Shay Agnon the Noble prize Author. Amos`s half sister used to be a fibseartist, and i owe her thanks for a wonderful course i took with her. I told his sister to tellAmos that his book gave me the power , to go on working on my research , and to go on with telling the story from as much points of view one can find. And yes,Amos is right our histories are stories of Love and darkness .

I won`t tell you his biography here , not to spoil the charming special way in which he does it. If you have any questions please ask ,,,,, i rrad most his books but one .

I know, Mirjam, I read ONE crime book and decided to read something "better" than crime this time!

It is his Family

He describes his life in Jerusalem so detailed that I try to find a City-map to follow him!

Aud , Yes Jerusalem is a city with Special air ,,,, and everything else ,, Did you know that some people come there and get a "Jerusalem Syndrom "? And indeed in his literary as well as his decriptive writing he is most facinating ... mirjam

Eimear , i am not a doctor , but from what i read over the years and what answrs i got to my questions. It is some form of temporary `frenzy`. people think they got a mission, And behave accordingly , undressing , trying to fly . Foamy mouthes , there seem to be several forms of this frenzy . Luckily it usually disppears once they are sent home . mirjam

Anna Maria, I have now reserved " The No. 1..." and "tears of the giraffe" (Mc Call Smith).Both translated. I think I should take some days off(LOL), because I think I will get 6-6 books at the same time now! AUD ;-))

I know that they have been translated into Italian and Swedish as well. If you can´t wait until the following books of the serie are translated into Norvegian, don´t be afraid to read them in English! The language i s simple and beautiful and I had no problems at all.

Have you read the Montalbano inspector Italian serie by Andrea Camilleri? I highly recommend them. Now, his Italian IS difficult LOL I know that they have been translated into English and some into Swedish

as well. Montalbano is as much Italian as Wallander is Swedish LOL My favorite one is "The terracotta dog" (Il cane di terracotta).

Anna Maria Anna Maria, I see they have "Terrakottahunden" and "Slik vann tar from" by Andrea Camilleri at our library.(Easy to check on net :-) I have put them on my wish list, I don't risk to get more books at once! I am thankful for these sugestions, hope they are noy too "crude" or bloody!LOL! AUD ;-))

Mirjam, this is really interesting, even though very sad for the people. I thought the syndrome might have been something to do with being overcome by awe at the age and the history of the city.

Mirjam, I thought "The Syndrom" would be a nice, happy one; like longing to go back, and frequently return back.. ..... but this sounds pretty serious!!!

This night there is a Programe at Norwegian TV: "Three reporters seek an author"; the first Author this year is Amos Oz.

The short intoduction says: "The Israelian author Amos OZ has finally managed to (?) Work throuh/ come to terms with(?) his family tragedy as a novel. We will follow him to his childhood's streets in Jerusalem, and to "The Jewish Museum" in Berlin.

I am looking forward to it, it is difficult to "stop" reading his book! I think I went too late to sleep this night!LOL!

Today the weather is splendid, and I have my last day off. I have much to do at home, but now I take a bottle of coffee, the book and warm clothes, and enjoy the day at sea. DH has to work, So I think I really feel like a LUXERY woman, doing just what I fancy! AUD ;-))

The translation was very good and the translator really deserves a lot of compliments, Camilleri´s Italian language is not the easiest one. Anyway the many many "dirty words" there sound heavier in English than they really are in Italian/Sicilian. I know that

some people can be offended by such a language. Please keep in your mind

they have a much lighter meaning in the original.

Dirty words seems to belong to the crime changre for some reason. I let them pass by without "see" them, I hope!LOL!

And, about Wallander... Today I heard that an Oslo Paper had written about Ystad as tourist goal, AND that Wallander's favourite Baker sells "Wallander cake" to happy tourists. The cake is BLUE and with lots of "punch"(alcohol), and very calory rich!

BUT Mankel did not like that! They should not earn money on Wallander, besides, HE (Mankel) does not like cakes!

Well, the Baker rebaptised the cake. Now it is called "W"!! AUD ;-))
