OT - Rainbow

I only post in here very rarely as I'm afraid that I don't really have anything to contribute to the group. Anyway, I know how much you all like to hear of nice things happening, so if you'll indulge me, I thought I'd share something nice with you.

I live in Norfolk in England, where the weather has been absolutely atrocious for the last couple of days, but something I saw tonight made it all worthwhile.

While I was watching Coronation Street on the telly, I had a view out of my front window which revelead the most incredible rainbow that I've ever seen in my life. It was so bright that it produced a secondary rainbow that was as bright as a normal rainbow and that in turn produced a tertiary rainbow. That's the first time that I have seen a triple rainbow, and very impressed I was too!

It really cheered me up! Isn't it amazing how the simplest things can give so much pleasure!

How lucky for you, and how beautiful that must have been! :o) Did you make a wish (or three) on the rainbow(s)?

Peace! Gemini

Now, you have to realise, you didn't see *my* rainbow... you saw *your* rainbow.

I'm a very scientific person and I like to understand how things work. Some people may say that takes all the joy out of things, but I disagree. Thinking about it scientifically, I realise that a rainbow doesn't actually exist in the sky. It exists in the eye of the beholder - quite literally. So the rainbow that you see is made up of entirely different light beams from the one that I see.

Each and every rainbow is finely crafted for one person only. It is a very special and unique thing that can never, ever be repeated. If you look up into the sky at night, the universe can make you seem so very small and insignificant. But that same universe can still find the time to make your own very special rainbow, just for you. Comforting, innit?

I was too taken in by the beauty of the thing to make wishes. I must admit it made my evening! :-)

Thank you. Do you mind if I share it around a bit?

Thanks for sharing here, too, Enzo. I agree with your comments. We say a beautiful rainbow across the St. Lawrence the other day, and the colours were reflected in the water. Just gorgeous!

I'll just bet it did. I feel the same way whenever I see a rainbow, or the sky full of stars, or a butterfly, or a baby bunny in my yard, etc.... it all makes me smile and feel very comforted in this vast universe! :o)

You're welcome, and I would love it if everyone I sent "peace" wishes to would share it around as much as they can! :o)

Peace! Gem
