OT: summer reading

I'm currently reading non-fiction

From Time Immemorial by Joan Peters

VERY interesting subject matter, a LOT of which I already knew, but she expounds on the subject magnificently.

I am reading books to give to graduating students. A publishing house sends us some each year, and it is part of my job to choose the appropriate students for each book. I enjoy it.

Katherine I would love doing that as well. Do you meet up with golden oldies and lots of new authors as well. I find, today that it is very hard to keep up with it all. We are lucky to have so many great writers.

How many books do you have to read, and how many do you really like. Also are there books you think that will not be appropreate as well.

Happy reading and skull cap crocheting.

Hi,

I'm not a non-fiction reader. Light love stories or mysteries for me. I don't know if any of you get the Lion Brand newsletter, but they mentioned Debbie Macomber and her two books "The Shop on Blossom Street" and "A Good Yarn". I have both of them and they are going to be next to read. The author is also a knitter.

They are strictly modern authors, and Canadians to boot. I usually have to read 4 or 5 books, as they give us several copies of each one. While some of the books do have a "mature" content, there are none that are really inappropriate, as long as I choose the recipients carefully. If you would like, I could post the list of books and authors in a few days, along with my comments.

Ah, you have them both, Nora. I bet you'll love them!

OK, I'll try to remember to jot the info down tomorrow, so that, after I finish reading, I can comment.

I just finished reading "The Shop on Blossom Street." It was pretty light reading...perfect for these days where I cannot read anything too deep. I'm thinking that maybe I should make the baby blanket which is published in the book.

I looked for that today, but it isn't here. Maybe I'll get it next week in St. John's.

"A Good Yarn", second in the series and recently published, is also very light reading. It has a socks pattern in it.

Katherine, if you can't locate it in St John's let me know, I will be off to Toronto on Sunday and will look for this book as well. I can always mail it out to you when I have read the book.

THanks, Els, but there is a Chapter's in St. John's, so I should be able to find it. Actually, I have my list all ready to go hunting. Between books and yarn, I'll have plenty to spend my money on!

Hi Jan & Janise,

Now, I'll have to hurry and finish Nora Roberts "Black Rose" so I can get to these two. Light reading is what I enjoy. Glad you both liked them.

Nora
