question about aran sweater pattern

Please somebody help me.......I'm starting an aran sweater which of course has cable panels and a double moss stitch at either side of the panels. The pattern says *bringing extra stitches into double moss stitch inc 1 st at each end of next and every following 4th row ....what is the best way to do these increase stitches to keep the double moss stitch even......if I increase 1 stitch at each end of the sleeve, do I continue with the k1p1 or do I have to change it so I do

2 rows of p1k1 to keep the moss stitch the way it should be? Having a brain phart, Marie and the cats

You would do it whatever way it takes to keep the moss stitch looking the way it should. So if the row originally started with k1, adding

1 st at the beginning (and end) means that the increased row will begin with p1.

Then when you get to the next increase, it will begin with k1 again.

Alternatively, knit the body and join (if you're knitting it flat in two pieces), then pick up the sleeves and knit down from the shoulder. You can establish a fake "seam" on the underside and make your decreases on either side of it.

PS -- knit the body in the round too

PPS -- can you tell I despise flat knitting? hehe
