You know what, Els? I always watch the news when I am at home. But when I was traveling with the students, I didn't watch it at all, and I really didn't miss it.

I must have missed Olwyn Mary's post the first time around, but there's good news for her:

The NewsHour podcast. You can download it and listen to it any time you want on your computer -- no iPod or MP3 device needed. Just the media player on your computer. You might want to download the free iTunes player (the link is in the right-hand column of the page I'm about to give you) and it'll automatically download the podcast *and* play it for you whenever you wish.

's not quite as fun as watching the show, but it is a good substitute if you really need a fix. Hang in there, Olwyn Mary. I can't imagine what things must be like in your city these days. I don't know how so many of you keep your spirits up. I have to say I'm incredibly impressed by the chutzpah I see from NO. What a scrappy, lovely group of people.
