You are Right Tamar ,, the first Known or shall be correct the Oldest found and Dated socks were not knitted , they were made in Naalbinding , and also had a toe ,,,, as people wlaked with a toe sandal at the time ,, The Archeologist Abigail Sheffer [ whose name you will alos find in the book 'women`s work the first 20.ooo years, in another connection]. Tells about the day, they were Digging Massada and as they found a sock Yiga`el Yadin threw it in her lap , and said: "you are a woman , show us how it was made !!!" mirjam

Well, I didn't work it out on my own. I only followed the instructions on the first website that was mentioned in this discussion. And I am happy to see this link, because I lost my bookmark some time ago.

As far as I can see, she does not claim the invention of the knitted moebius scarf. She only gives the method to make "the original", and she says that she was inspired by others.

HeE Ria are you back already ? I thought you went on tour ? I think that if somebody claims it is the Original , she might mean it is the first ,,, and i really worked out my crochet one on my own , but give credit to Elizabeth Zimmerman`s idea [ wity the invisable seam]..... I remember when i first decided to try and work seamless [in sweaters]i can tell the exact process that lead me towards this method, only after i worked it all out on my own did i get a book about this method ,,,, I still like to work out my own solutiomd to various patterns. I always think that if i could work it out , other have the same capabilities to work it out for themselves , thus the word Original is a bit Big ...... And i tell everybody that i learned the knitted Moebious from RIA ,,,, mirjam
