Recipes Pea Soup and Navy Beans

It is a tradition in my family to always have rutabega with turkey at Thanksgiving. It wouldn't be Thanksgiving without it! We just boil it and mash with butter-Yum. I found a recipe for chicken soup with rutabega and it was delicious. Gave it a little different taste that went well with the chicken.

One year I was checking out at the grocery store when the clerk asked what the rutabega was and how it was eaten. The woman behind me began to laugh. She explained that her husband was eastern european and rutabega was fed to the livestock and would be very insulted if she tried to serve it to him!

The new knee is good but the other one needs fixed now. I will see the surgeon on 27th so will probably get a date to get that one done:)

Hope the hip is still ok?

Rutabaga is definitely served with Turkey dinner here in our home too! And I love putting some chunks of it in with homemade soup.... cabbage too! ;o)

I've heard that... about rutabaga being served to livestock. What a waste! I think my son and I would be wrestling the livestock for the rutabaga...unless of course it is mushy or some other reason not to feed it to humans. LOL I just had visions of us wrestling with piggies, etc. hehehe

Hello there O, Yes the hip is absolutely fine thanks, getting me around all over the place, even going up your way in August, to Edinburgh, as I said in another post. The Achilles tendonitis (same side as hip) is being a bit of a nuisance at present, I think it's worse in hot weather 'cos the old ankles swell and put pressure on it. You must be a bit nervous about the other knee after all the problems with the first one, but I should think after that they'll be specially careful to make sure everything goes smoothly. Well I would be!! How long's the waiting list for orthopaedic surgery where you are? Not too long I hope . Hope all goes well on the 27th Love C
