Seed Stitch--How to count rows

Good morning! I am new to your groups and pretty new to knitting (4 scarfs, 1 doll blanket and 1 kerchief under my belt so far).

I am making a hooded baby blanket from a pattern I found at JoAnn fabrics. It calls for the first 8 rows to be knit in seed stitch with two strands of yarn held together. That wasn't a problem at all. Unfortunately, I have not yet purchased a row counter and have lost count of how many rows I knit. I am really having trouble counting them due to the thickness from 2 strands of yarn and because this is my first adventure with seed stitch. Can anyone offer advice?

Thank you so much for your help!

snipped-for-privacy@Yahoo.com spun a FINE 'yarn':

Hi! If you count the purled 'bumps' you'll find that 3 = 6 rows. HTH, Noreen
