Stockinette/Reverse Stockinette

Okay, I'm not a newbie, I have been knitting for three years, but while I know that stockinette (and I assume reverse stockinette) will roll up from side to side, I don't remember that it rolls up from the cast-off edge. Am I just not remembering, or is my piece doing something weird?

I have knitted the children's poncho "Valerie" by FiberTrends and the edge is finished off in reverse stockinette (purling all rows in the round, casting off in purl). It rolls HORRIBLY!!! At this point, I'm going to un-cast off (?) and put several rows of seed stitch as I KNOW that won't roll.

Any input?

Yep, St and Rev St roll at the cast on/off edge. You could do a few rows in garter stitch, would look similar and not roll as bad.

Awful discovery to make once you're done, ain't it? Yes, stockinette will roll on the cast off edge as well. Actually, ONE row of k1, p1, then casting off in the opposite manner will help...(if you knit tightly, if loose, then, yes, a couple of rows of moss/seed would do it)

What about adding an I-cord edge around your reverse stockinette edge? It's easy to add, and you won't have to undo anything. I just finished a simple mitered garter stitch baby blanket, and I wanted to add a very simple edge to make it look more finished. I went around with a 4 stitch i-cord, and it came out beautifully.
