Do you think a post that starts out by calling other morons is kind?
Thanks for the compliment, Judy. Not only did I meet Els but stayed in her home for 3 days. She and her husband are 2 of most delightful people I know. The fourth person I enjoyed meeting on that trip was Eimear.
I had a stalker in real life years ago. I wasn't afraid of him... in fact I told him off more times than not... but he was extremely annoying... to the point of showing up at my house one afternoon as I was about to leave with some friends, and he followed us to the bowling alley in the nearby city. He *finally* understood that I meant what I said... that I would call the police on him if he didn't stay away from me and my friends.
On the other hand, I flew to England to stay with a male online friend (*only* friends... he had a girlfriend and he and I thought of each other as brother and sister), and met up with a couple of other male online friends while I was in England. I was invited to stay at one of their homes up north a bit from where I had been staying. It was quite comical actually, because his wife was working when I arrived and she called to talk to him on the phone. When she hung up, he looked at me and burst out laughing and said his wife was concerned that I was an axe-nurderer or something, so she called to make sure he was okay alone with me. He laughed and said "If you
*were* an axe-murderer, I don't know what she thought she could do... or how she thought I could even answer the phone." After she met me, she was more at ease and laughed about how she had felt at first. :o)I really can understand the concern though. In all honesty, even though I love my friend (who'd home I stayed in while in England), I have to admit... on the flight over, I had a fleeting moment of concern and remember thinking to myself "What the hell are you doing flying to the other side of the world to meet strangers you only know online." But once we met face to face, I felt totally at home with him. :o)
*hugs* GeminiJoin the Discussion
