Washing Fleece

Hi all,



I've just acquired about a kilo of merino fleece. The tips are very dirty and the person whom I got it from advised me to cut the tips off and discard them. Now I'm not a girl who likes to waste stuff and if I can clean those tips I will. I tried the usual hot water and detergent wash last night on a sample (about 4 detergent washes before rinsing) and it came up cleaner but not clean enough.



Am I wasteing my time attempting to clean the tips or can anyone give me some tips for cleaning a really filthy fleece?

Let it dry thoroughly then use a dog slicker, a flicker, or an old handcard to pop the tips open. Most of the crap should fall out, you can rescour to deal with the rest.

Thanks Wooly! I popped to the pet store and grabbed a cheap dog clicker brush and a comb too (I didn't want to destroy my carding brushes or the cat brushes). Both are good and have made a huge difference. I've worked through the small amount I'd already washed but I'll try and attack the remaining fleece before I wash it and then again after if need be. I'm going to get every shred of fibre that I can.
