Karen,

I'm sorry for not responding sooner. I was thinking I would email you but I had forgotten that most of us don't show our email anymore (myself included!).

Anyway, I appreciate what you said and I thank you for that. I find I try to only be around my parents if I am feeling strong enough to deal with things they say without it having an impact on me. I stay away when I know they will get to me and I will end up feeling bad. My plan actually works sometimes :P

But I know exactly what you mean about if you weren't related, you wouldn't talk to them much.

Donna,

I apologize for not responding sooner. I do appreciate your thoughts. I don't know why I keep feeling "surprised" that there are so many people with similar issues.

We have a saying in Hebrew that when a trouble is common to many it is half a consolation.. In former generations people were expected to honor teir elders ,and nobody dared to speak about this , Quite Natural thing, of children growing apart from parents , and of Parents and children having problems with each other... Now we do speak about it and i think ther was a time when EVERY mother was blamed for her child`s misbehaviour. Now we are finding the true path , some relations are ok , some are less than ok ,,, mirjam
