white wool

can one or how does one get white wool yarn? sheep don't come in that color, i think. everything seems to be for example,

This is our natural white yarn. It is not snow white, but rather a > warm cream or ivory color. My brother calls it Candlelight, and I > think that's a perfect description for the color.

or alabaster

i am weaving a stole for a priest who would like 'fairly pure/light white' and it would be nice to use a good natural fiber, ie, wool, and not synthetic.

any suggestions, please/

Have you considered bleached wool? I don't believe it will felt, but it will be white. As well, Patons Classic Merino comes in a Winter White and Briggs and Little has an aran weight wool in white, if you're looking for commercial yarn.

It's readily available from weaving suppliers such as Robin&Russ.

Silk, if you're in a wealthy parish. Linen if you aren't.

You should be able to get a nice fine white wool to weave your stole with. Most good weaving supply outfits will carry a fine marino wool. A factory merino wool will have been bleached to a pure white (if indeed there is such a beast....LOL)

I know that Treenway on Saltspring island carries a blend of silk and merino. It is a very fine yarn with a lovely sheen. I have a skein of it right here. The colour is more ivory, but for a stole it would be lovely.
