looking for hoop basting design

I'm not exactly sure what to call them but I remember hearing that there is a way to baste your fabric inside the hoop before you begin to embroider the actual design. If you know what I am talking about and know where I can find these basting files I would really appreciate the info. Thank you so much! Mary
