OT = latest reads

Invisible Prey - John Sanford. Centers around antique quilts with curses for an abusive husband stitched in to them. This is a great series, though I actually like his Kidd series better.

Hard Row - Margaret Maron, latest in the Judge Deborah Knott series. Good mystery, great characters.

Only problem - #3 picked up is a dub for me. Already gave up after 3 pages.

HMMMM -- I thought I had read all of the Prey series novels but I don't remember one with quilts as part of the story! Is this a new one? I wait until the paperback comes out so if this is still hardback, that would be why it's not familiar. I like the Kidd series, too. Not necessarily better, just because they are different. There is something about Kidd I like a lot more than Davenport. C

I just finished the first 3 Murder by the Month series: May day, June bug, and Knee high by the 4th of July by Jess Lourey. They're kind of along the lines of Stephanie Plum (as in unwilling crime-solver), although not quite as good: In May Day, Mira gets a job she doesn't necessarily want in a small MN town (part-time librarian, part-time reporter), falls in love with a man who is then murdered and solves the crime. I like the local-ness of this series (it takes place in a town about 100 miles from here), which won't do much for most of you.

I've just started Andre Norton's Witch world series and am waiting for the last of the Sword of Truth series, Confessor, by Terry Goodkind (to come out (today, I think!). I had the public library order it and put on hold for me.

Loved and read as much Andre Norton as I could get my hands on a a kid. She was my introduction to Science Fiction (along with Heinlein's juveniles). Since we are moving in a couple of weeks nearly all of my books are packed and I'm going into withdrawal!!!!

Luckily, there was a book sale at work this week (in support of the United Way) so I picked up ten paperbacks and hard copies (Nora Roberts, Ed McBain, etc).

If you like Ellis Peter's Caedfel mysteries, I also recommend her Detective Felse books, and her musical mysteries.
