I finally braved the A word (shhh its applique)

Too scarey of a word for me to say lol. Did I ever tell you all the very first thing I ever quilted was an appliqued girl. She was so horrid I hung her on my wall as a reminder to never ever again try applique lol. Anyhow back to my subject line, I was convinced by a great number of you all to give it a try so

on the second page is picture of it.... It was a tea towel with two stars appliqued with the blanket stick. I know they are very small, but hey I did :):):):):) Maybe I will be braver next time and try something more lol Thanks for all the encouragemnt. Carissa (who still is posting from the kids computer so its all messed up)

Atta girl, Carissa. Your stars are just great. I laughed about your posting your appliquéd girl on the wall. We have a very simple pieced chicken that we keep on the design wall. The hen is simply squares and HSTs but with the block arrangement assembled carelessly, her tail feathers are sticking painfully in instead of pointing out. It's an hilarious reminder to Pay Attention. Good for you. We're proud of you. Polly

Way to go, Carissa! You're a brave soul - and you did a great job. I learned to like machine applique a lot better once I started using a stabilizer! I had been told it would help, but did I believe? No-o-o-o-o! Darned if "they" weren't right.

Wow, Carissa! :D You did a lovely job on that! Is it hand appliqué? And the fact that it's small is even more impressive. As another a-phobic quilter, I'm awed! :)

I just did it by machine.... the H word (hand) is as bad as the A word around here lol (except and you must never ever tell.... I like hand quilting better than machine shhhhh) Thanks all :)

LOL! I have a new-to-me book on machine appliqué -- I swear I'm going to try it sometime soon. ;) As for hand quilting vs. machine quilting, I love them both for different reasons. :)
