Re: scissors sharpening services

I don't know about the people in your area who sharpen scissors, but if you own Gingher scissors you can return them to the factory for sharpening.

Some months ago someone here on the group gave us a report on sending their ginghers in to be sharpened by the gingher people and was quite pleased. Was it Alice? Leslie?? ohhh no.. the mind has started to go... Diana

Hi there. Yes, it was I. ( ten points from all the grammar nuts?) I sent my favorite Ginghers back to Gingher. They came home quickly and good as new. I did have terrible withdrawal symptoms while being separated from my Ginghers. Polly

Local scissors sharpener was awful. I sent mine back to Heimerdinger's (a scissors store in Louisville KY) and they did a marvelous job. Couldn't be happier.

Well, I could be thinner and that would make me somewhat happier.

You know.. now that you mention it.. it *was* you! Thanks for stepping forward. It was a relief to know there was somewhere to send mine when they need sharpening. Im thinking.. another 20 years and they might need it? Diana :-)

I just got mine back and am delighted. It only took about 2.5 weeks.

Quoting from their site: "If the blades are open when they are dropped the cutting edges will dig into one another at the point of impact, creating an imperfection or nick in the cutting edges which impairs the feel and cutting capability of the product."

Mine had been dropped onto a tile floor and the 'imperfection' was so deep that I couldn't close them. They're perfect now. I had thought they were still pretty sharp before, but wow, what a difference.
