Is it just me? there seem to be very few posts in the past 24-48 hours....

Is everybody too busy sewing to post? me.... still fighting this bug -- head to fuzzy to sew anything...

but as soon as it clears..... I plan to start a little girly baby quilt -- baby's due in late May/early June....

(cricket sounds) It does seem really, really quiet here the past couple of days, doesn't it? I've been hand piecing my Irish Chain the past couple of weeks. I'm hoping to get my camera working again so that I can post some pictures. It's coming along faster than I thought, although it's still going to be a long time before it's finished.

I found an inspiration online. It's a wallhanging consisting of two different sized diamonds which are made up like mini quilts and connected by... well, in my case I'm going to bead together some bling to connect the diamond quilts to each other. I'm just getting started but I think this will be quite eye-catching... if it turns out as I picture it in my mind. But then that's how all my UFOs start out.... a great idea and then something happens and it all comes to a screeching halt. LOL

Other than that, today we are having winter after being 70 degrees two days ago. It's been snowing all day. And I have seen very few posts here so it's not just you.

Hope you feel better real soon.

I have florentine fabric (Kaufman) from several years ago and am determined to make a wedding quilt (August wedding). I'm still in the planning stages, and I know the first cut will be the hardest. The fabric is just gorgeous, which is why I spent way too much money on it. The time has come to make the cut!

Today, DH and I took our old dog, Tasha, to the vet to be put down. It was very easy and painless. We held her. I was sobbing. Even DH was crying. But, it was time. She was leaking all the time, slept 99% of the time--not interested in much. We just knew it was right.

I'd rather go to bed than anything but we have a church related activity tonight. I'm not much in the mood for it but will go anyway.

I'd rather be working on my big pink/rose/purple/blue/white quilt. I have the blocks done--need to cut and sew the sashing. I'm off on Monday so will work on it then.

Happy quilting!

I wondered the same thing. I'm not getting many posts at all. Gen

Oh, Lenore, that's so sad- please accept my condolences and sympathy. There's no words that can really help but know we understand how much this hurts your and your DH's hearts.

Rest in peace Tasha.

I have been busy getting my customer quilts for this month done so I can quilt a few of my own that I have entered into our local guild show. I have never entered a quilt in a show before..... kind of scary. It's only peer judged but it is great advertising for me if I do well.

I also just got back from a week long retreat with my girlfriends to Bodega Bay, CA where it rained 75% of the time. I got lots of sewing done!!! This is the house we rent:

I think I worked on and finished 3 or 4 quilts (including the ones I am entering in the show) and a La Borsa bag.

Since I quilt for customers, getting time to sew for me is rare. Quilting is what keeps me so busy!!!

I'm so sorry you had to do that but now Tasha is at rest. My heart goes out to you and your DH.....

I've been stretching. I'd wanted for a long time to try a 9-patch with a shadow effect - sort of like Standout Begonias in QMN April 2005. That simple little 9-patch needs 5 perfectly coordinated fabrics to appear to have a square with a shadow behind it. Did that in polka dots, daisies, one Fairy Frost and a vague sort of batik. Great. Right? no. Looked too much 'first day in mechanical drawing class'. So. I chose a border. Auditioned skunks, butterflies, pigs and pink-faced black and white spotted cows. Sorry Butterfly. The cows won. Polly

Oh my... how sad... My DH's aunt had to put down their lab this morning also.... sometimes the hardest things we have to do... come from the deepest parts of our hearts...

I am so sorry Lenore. Losing a beloved pet is a tough thing.

I have been working in the sewing room for a couple of weeks now. I am so very sick of painting but things are looking pretty good in there. Yesterday I think I began to see light at the end of the tunnel. I built some shelving and still want to do a table for a couple of machines. My carpentry skills are really crummy. Stock in wood filler makers might be the only ones not dropping these days. Everything does look fair and it is all serviceable though. I really miss sewing. I am in the middle of a floral top that I am thinking about giving as a wedding gift so hopefully I can get back to that soon. All the rain we had last month have brought on a lot of weeds and that is an ongoing project. I am seeing signs of spring around the corner all over the yard. Yippee! Taria

We are so relieved that you are finally seeing signs of spring. The robins have been here in a holding pattern so long that they are all gathered in the pantry trying to decide on Mexican or Italian. The whole place has been picked clean of bugs and worms. Warm up, will you? Polly

We don't get robins here unless they are lost. The mocking birds sound like they are pretty frisky though. This singing/mocking all night is really getting old already. DD is in Chicago this week. She emailed about the weather. I don't think she remotely understands how folks like in the cold or why. We are more than a bit spoiled here.

Just hang on Polly, it really is going to warm up. Plum is just starting to bloom. It is too soon but pretty much outta my control. Taria

Spring here is very puzzling. Our azaleas are lovely old giants. They've survived lots. But . . . this year, most peculiar. The bottom 6 feet or so is glorious full bloom of loud happy magenta. The top 6 feet is only bright green new growth going straight up with no flowers. We never saw this before. It hasn't mattered. The Bluejays and Cardinals nest in them just fine and take shelter from whatever comes in. We're hoping that the hummingbirds coming in will hold off for just 3 or 4 more days. We have one more bad blast on the menu and hope it will be the last. Polly

We were 70 degrees Thursday. 4 inches of snow today. Leslie, it's headed your way unless it got there already. In that case, never mind!

It's been snowing since about 9 a.m. and we have close to six inches. Right now there's a vicious north wind blowing. I'm staying right here next to my fireplace (propane gas!) and keeping warm. I move away for a few minutes to fussy cut some of my diamond shapes for the new project and right back in front of the fire to warm up again.

We were also 70 on Thursday. The plants and animals are soooo confused with spring and summer every few days and then a few days of winter thrown in to shake things up. I think I won't have many flowers this summer since all the buds are going to be frozen off. But then I shouldn't still be in this house by summertime so I'll never know!

I'm here, not sewing but here. We have been undergoing a major audit at work so I use evenings and weekends to catch up on the work I'm not getting done during the day due to the audit. This is a routine audit that happens every two years or so but we never know when they are coming - it's always a surprise to be sure. But, it's part of my job to manage the audit so my own work gets put on the back burner.

It snowed here last night, only about 2 inches, it's pretty, but a prelude to the 8 inches we're expecting tonight. Looks like a work at home day tomorrow!
