Wishblade Info Needed

Does anyone have any experience with the Wishblade font cutting system? I have seen it demo'd at a convention, but have never actually talked to anyone who had one. It seemed very pricey (at about $400!!) for what you got, and they wanted to sell you the fonts too. Can you use any true type fonts with it? Or do you have to buy their proprietary fonts.

Any info you can provide to help me decide whether or not to buy one would be much appreciated.

Hi Raz,

I received an advanced Wishblade for Christmas. With the unit, I also received a letter inside the box that stated true type fonts could not be used at this time. The letter says "Many of our customers have requested that the Wishblade software be enhanced to allow the cutting of all true type fonts that they own and are stored on their computer. While you may have already heard this is possible, the wishblade was not designed for this functionality and using it in this way could damage the unit and negate the warranty. We now recognize the benefit of this feature and are in the process of developing a software upgrade including this enhancement that we will be sending to all Wishblade customers. You'll receive a second communication from us in the coming months with specific details as to when the upgrade will be available so stay turned!

So, I don't think I will be trying it for now. Your right, it's far to costly to damage it. I haven't seen any thing about the upgrade so far. Hope this helps. Myra

Thanks for your info. I can't justify spending that kind of money just to cut a few titles. I have a Sizzix, and between a local sb-ing friend and myself we have six alphabets. So if I need a diecut alphabet I can probably find one that will work. I'm not surprised that they're doing the software enhancement, though, because several people on a message board I frequent told me they had loaded TTF's on their Wishblades with no problems (once they figured out how to do it). That "void the warranty" feature would make me think twice, though!

Again, thanks.
