Cricut or Wishblade?

Question

DH said I could get a cricut for my birthday...now I am looking at them and I am wondering if the wishblade is a better machine. Xyron is currently sold out of them but I saw a couple on e-bay. Has anyone out there had the chance to play with both machines? Which one would be the better deal. I like how the wishblade can cut any true type font and like the cost of the cd's versus the cost of the cricut cartridges. Decisions, decisions... Jacqui

Tammie from Saskatoon and my own research just answered my own questions.  I  am a font-a-holic.  Anyone who has had the chance to see my layouts or do a  swap with me knows I love to play with fonts.  Because of this, I am decided  on the wishblade because all the cartridges it would take to make me happy  with a cricut would put poor dh in the poorhouse and less cardstock for me. So that is what I decided on, but please continue the thread in case anyone  else is in the same dilemma. Hope this helps some one out. Jacqui

I just saw the ad for the  Silhouette digital craft cutter that is being  released by Quickutz.  It looks pretty awesome, but I do imagine that it  will be pricey.  I could not find pricing information on the email that I  received.

I got this from my QK club yahoo group. Our moderator posted this.

I went to the Premiere Gold Club Member's party last night and QK has released the mac daddy of all laser die cut machines. This small portable machine cuts shapes and letters from a 1/4 of an inch to 8 inches high, has prepaid downloadable cards for images and fonts, cuts true type fonts from your computer and is available in warehouse as we speak. The retail price is $369.

That sounds more versatile than the wishblade.  I went to the website and  you can pre-order them.  I called them and the first shipment of 200 is  going out next week.  The rest of them is expected to ship mid-February. Jacqui

I did a little more research.  Those of you who are familiar with the Craft  Robo II will be happy to know the QK machine is the same, it just uses  different software.  The Craft Robo is a lot like the Wishblade.  It cuts  the same only it cuts more materials.  I like how the QK machine (The  Silhouette) cuts from 1/4" to 8".  I can use it when I am teaching.  That  made my decision.  I will be ordering it and will give y'all an update and  critique when it comes in. Jacqui
