Finished!

I finished the blue velvet competition jacket yesterday (wrestled with the silver braid for over two hours, but I won!) and delivered it to DGD. She will dance tomorrow in Seattle, wearing the new jacket for the first time, as well as the new green and red Highland Jig outfit we made together last fall.

She injured her foot playing soccer, so this is the first competition in a long time. I'm going up with the family, I'll put pictures of DGD wearing the new jacket and jig outfit ASAP.

Beverly, nursing a sore elbow, the braid was fierce!

Congratulations! I know DGD is very pleased with the jacket, and will be be a gorgeous part of the dance team. I am sorry about your elbow; it just needs a rest. Emily

An elbow will fit in the paraffin bath. ;-)

I can hardly wait for the pix! As ever, it will be beautiful. And all power to the dancing lass!

Are you also suffering from Braid Thumb? You know, where it's sore from all the gripping, and there's a little numb bit from all the pushing...

Can I get one big enough for a whole body? ;)

*sigh* No. That's why I yearn for one of those bathtubs with the bubbly massage thingies. Hundreds of little airbubbles caressing and massaging my poor old.......well, you get the idea.

Yup. Today I feel like a set of crumbling remains fit only for the paeleantologist!

Thanks Emily, she was very happy with the jacket (link to pictures in another message). The girls dance and are judged individually, not as a team . She placed well yesterday, her first time at Premier level.

My elbows are all better, thanks. However, apparently nicked the tip of my left middle finger which is nicely swollen, red and very tender, it must be infected. Battle scars....

Check my new messages for links to pics. She was promoted to Premier class, and scored well for her first outing.

No, my thumbs seem fine, but during all the hand sewing I must have pricked the tip of a finger, it's now infected and sore. Fortunately I will spend this week putting all the holiday stuff away, so all I have to do is box it up and haul it downstairs to storage. No fine dexterity required. ;-}

Oh, no! Soaking in something like Epsom salts may help the healing, draw out the infection. Hope it clears up soon, and before you need antibiotics.

Yesterday I had bandaged it and put a nice large gauze pad on it so I wouldn't wince every time I accidentally touched something. Topical antibiotic cream is taking care of it, it's much less tender this morning.

Mom used to swear by Epsom salts soaks. She also liked mustard plasters for chest colds.... ;-}

Thanks, and I will. She loves hearing what the "sewing ladies" have to say.

Invoice for keyboard and monitor on the way!

"bopth???"

That's what comes of trying to type with a big fat bandage on the tip of one's finger and not running spill chequer...

You're saying I'm old, are you? *hmmmmph!* Sometimes old remedies are better than the super-duper modern drugs that cure the symptom and destroy the liver.

He should keep this in mind in case he ever thinks a cat needs a bath. LOL!!

Looks around...who me? ;->

Agreed! The side-affects listed on most OTC drugs make me shudder.
