'll put some additional pictures of the construction process up later.
Following three months of no dancing because she injured her foot and elbow playing soccer, DGD resumed her lessons three weeks ago. She was in her first competition as a newly minted "Premier 13 to 15" dancer yesterday. She medaled in three of the five required dances. ;-)

You'll notice the other dancer is wearing...AHEM...a VEST! ;->
It is amazing to see all the girls with their hair done exactly the same. About the only difference is the colors of their outfits (and size of the girls). I actually commented to DD on one of the cuties across the room yesterday...
Beautiful, just as I expected it to be as well as your DGD. It is great to accumulate those medals after being away so long. Give her a hug from me. Emily

Great looking outfit Beverly. The one Blair did is also great looking. Better start looking over your shoulder when you sew, Blair's coming up right behind you in her ability to do goood work. Juno
She informed me last week (when I was massaging my hands) that it won't be necessary for me to keep my fingers nimble in order to make her wedding gown, because *she* will make it.
Yes, although the jacket armscye is not modified much, I just raised the underarm area and swung the back toward the arm a little to add ease there.
The biggest alteration was to the sleeve itself. I finally drafted a two-part sleeve I am happy with. For the commercially made jackets, they add a 2.5" to 3" wide gusset to the underarm area to give the additional ease. I played around with re-shaping the sleeve cap and creating an undersleeve with the gusset included, to eliminate on extra set of seams and bulk. I took pictures as I sewed the jacket, I'll get them added soon.
The sleeve works very well, I'm slightly less happy with the pull-marks across the chest when her hands are on her hips as in the photo, but I'll try to work that out in the next iteration.
I may seek out a fitting seminar to see if I can get help.

That came out GORGEOUS!!!!! I love the red & green outfit too. She looks marvelous in both. But that jacket!!!! Stunning. Beautiful work and what a fabulous color on the girl!
Tell her good job on the medals too. It's hard to jump right back in after an injury. She's not determined or anything is she. ;) Wonder where she gets that..... lol
