Patching A Pocket, Sewing A Button

Plan to use Sewing Genie to sew a patch on a pocket, to cover a hole (nowhere near the seam). Seems straightforward except that I'll have to undo the original pocket seam, sew the patch, and then re-sew the pocket seam.

Want patch sewn, rather than depending on adhesive material. Can this be done (on Sewing Genie, or on standard sewing machine) without first undoing the original seam?

Is there an attachment that will allow Sewing Genie (or a standard sewing machine) to sew on a button (again, nothing based on adhesive)? Someone suggested NO, because it would require sewing machine's needle to move from side to side. Opinions?

Well, you can get machines that sew on buttons for you with special attachments, but if it's just one you're better of doing it by hand. The only time my attachment gets used is when I've allot to do or when BF is using it - he likes the gadgets!

You can do this if you "pull" the pocket toward the needle. You will have a little clearance, but it will work. I wouldn't use the Sewing Genie as it is flimsy enough that the needle will move and foul things up.
