Intolerance to yeast breads

Sep 23, 2003 3 Replies

Can anyone suggest alternatives to yeast breads, my wife has developed an intolerance to yeast and standard breads make her ill.

Your suggestions and recipes will be gratefully appreciated. Thanks in advance Jim

Has she been tested by an allergist? Is she allergic to both yeast and wheat? Yeast occurs naturally in the environment. Also, different manufacturers use different strains of yeast. It would be helpful if you could be more specific. I would recommend that you look at the cookbook section in a large health food store for wheat/gluten free bread recipes. You should also do a google search on that subject.

She has no problems with wheat so not gluten sensitive, only yeast. However she seems to be OK with very small amounts of yeast. So again any suggestions would be welcome.

What happens when she consumes yeast?
