Day before yesterday I got an extra bead from Tracey Waddey (OCD), because she thought I hadn't paid her but I had. A cute little pumpkin. Darling,, but what to do with an orange bead.
So today I finished with it. A necklace of orange and golds, with brown too even -- a first. Also all full of leaves and such, twisted and braided -- another first. Ans using up chips that I've never used for anything before.
Another surprise came in the mail. I won Nicole's "pink/green" lentils. The two side beads are white with a covering of clear glass that hifts between peachy pink and alexandite green. The middle lentil is a mirror finish "reptile" pattern that looks plummy amber. But there was more in the box. A candy necklace and Smokey Cat Peeps and a glowing Halloween ring and glittery Halloween glitter/sequin cats and bats and stuff. Plus, abunch of turq, blue and green (favorite color) beads in a bunch of styles. AND! some of the beads she's made, including the one I watched her make when I was in Calif last year for a high school re-union. It is thanks to the privelege of watching her work that I have any gut understanding of what lampworking means.
And another big surprise in the mail. I won a set of 11 beads from Carol Holmes and she sent me some extras. Two extra flower beads, 4 scrolls and
15 spacers. Wow.From the post office we went to the travel agency. Two round trip tickets, Fairbanks to Oakland for $1100. Alaska (Oil) Dividend Fund Special. Saved about $300 on each ticket.
As the song goes, "California here I come, right back where I started from".
