AD - Berried Treasure Lampwork - feeling better, too!

I'm finally feeling better - yey! I'll be busy this week catching up. The new auction for today is a delicious set of beads with a heart focal in a berry color scheme.

What I think is that great artists make simple and elegant look effortless. It isnt, and boy dont the wannabees have fits when they try to copy! You do *pretty* so well. Those colors are edible. Diana, wondering when the frit gets to come out and play

Thanks Diana!! The frit comes out to play as soon as I get some in my hot little hands. :) When Starlia gets going on that, I am *there* with my frit buying dollars. :)

I have a couple of folks who are helping me out. First I need to know how Kalera is doing on her end. I don't want to buy from them without knowing how their customer service really is.

Are you thinking of buying from Olympic? I hope not. They have it in thick rod form (and I mean **too thick**) and I don't think they carry gold iris.

I had contacted them about the R108. Cheryl has another contact though.

Actually they do, it's R218...the Gaffer version is nice too, G061. Carolyn

I love the Gaffer iris gold. Thanks Carolyn.

BTW - Carolyn. You didn't need to send the chunks out until the R108 gets here. I really appreciate it but it wasn't necessary for me anyway. What is the pretty purple glass?

Glad you're feeling better, Kandice! And that set is SO purply! :)

And... errr.... you *did* say that you'd like to know what I think... so... here goes... I don't like the giant Swaro pink crystal. :( Sorry! But I really think it throws off the purple in the set and the sharp angles of the crystal don't match up with the swirls of the beads. Other than that, it's perfection as always! :)

I will say, I called OCR AGAIN today and talked to Mark, who talked to Kevin, who explained rather pathetically that they have been absolutely beyond swamped with orders of the R-108, and he's receiving close to 200 emails per day about people's backorders (two words: form letter). (BTW, everyone in North America is out AFAICT, if you were thinking of calling around, but East Bay is having some air freighted in... it will be in on Monday, but there's not very much of it coming.)

Unfortunately, what seems to have happened is that he assumed my lost order had something to do with the R-108 (it didn't) and said pitifully, "I would replace it but we don't have any R-108 left at all." Pause pause pause...

"Uh, there wasn't any R-108 in the missing order".

"There wasn't?"

It's hard to be mad at him, but I'm disappointed that he didn't bother CHECKING.

As for my R-108 order, it appears that they received so many orders that they lost track of who placed theirs first, and so enough later orders were filled that they ran out of the new shipment before filling the earlier orders. I did not browbeat them for this, though I should have; that simply shows poor organizational skills on the part of management. Overall, I'm not completely pissed at them, as there are mitigating circumstances, but I'm still giving East Bay a chance to win my loyalty. I'd order from Spruce Pine but they don't carry Gaffer or Zimmerman... not that it would kill me to live without them. Most of my favorite colors are Kugler and Reichenbach anyway. I've heard recently that they've discontinued Q-colors, but I didn't get around to calling them today to confirm or deny.
