Oh man! My first AD and I blew it. Thank you sweetie for the heads up. The sale is on all the jewelry in the Mirage Concepts and Designs folder.

This link should take everyone straight to the goodies.

I really like how you used that clasp as your logo/image. The picture came out beautifully and that clasp is perfect.

Your stuff is really pretty. I won't buy now because you know I don't wear much jewelry but I hope someone else can both appreciate and wear your goods!

Happy Birthday!

Thank you, Marisa. I think that clasp was one of the first things I taught you wasn't it?

I so understand! Besides you're probably watching every penny yourself. Has Max had an luck yet?

LOL Well, it's not my bday yet, it's not for another month. :=)) Thank you though!

Yup! I have yet to make one that perfect, though :)

Very true.

No, not yet :(.

Apparently there are a glut of spouces following around students and professors to this smallish town and also there is a lot of nepotism for jobs (at least at the university, which is a major employer, especially for the computer support area he would like to find a job at).

He has started applying for regular retail positions etc but no bytes there yet either. They are all directing him to online applications which make you do some wierd sort of personality test. I wonder if he is overthinking and botching it (both he and I have failed the REID or as I call it "honesty test" they were doing a few years ago because of overthinking questions. If you failed that one they wouldn't even give you a chance to interview.).

oh, ok! You're just hoping to sell them by then?

BTW I only notice one from any of my kits left. Does that mean you've sold the others? :)

I like your jewelry a lot! I enjoy wirework and have just started buying lampwork, and I want my necklaces to look like yours when they grow up.

Your Web site is also very nice. I also really like the fact that you included a Slide Show. It makes your site a bit different than a lot of the other jewelry Web sites I've seen.

One thing I would change is the default speed of the Slide Show. I would either slow it down a bit or include only a brief heading in the Slide Show and save the detailed description for your "still" Web pages. Maybe my eyes are just getting old (they are!), but with a 56K connection I couldn't look at the picture and also read your description in just 4 seconds.

And by the way: I did eventually notice that I could either change the speed or pause the presentation. But amazingly enough at first I missed that little detail--because I was so interested in your jewelry. I am not kidding! Your jewelry is that pretty! ;-)

Hmmm....you don't really have time to practice otherwise I think you'd have it down pat already. You're a quick study!

Poor Max. Tell him not to give up, his time will come and in the meantime maybe a place that sells computers and gadgets would hold his interest for a while. If he's going to work retail it might as well be in something he knows quite a bit about.

Just picked a time frame and it seemed like as good a reason as any. I really do need to do the "out with the old and in with the new" before the holidays.

I wear one, the memory necklace with the clay beads? Which by the way, I have duplicated a few times for others. See what you started? Also made one with a pendant way back when as a birthday gift for a friend. Trying to remember....I still have two more so I've either sold or gave away completed jewelry. I like the way you put things together.

I think that you are my new best friend! hahahhaaaa Thank you!

I can't take credit for the set up of the website, only the content. That's the beauty of picturetrail, all that fancy web code is done for you. Of course it's a bit limiting because I can't really change much but I like it and it's good enough.

I will look and see if there's a default speed. Good idea. Some of my pictures take longer to load depending on the size before I uploaded. I promise to do better with new jewelry. My jewelry album is very slow! I uploaded large files because it's sort of a journal for me and I want to be able to see details.

Well, good for you for figuring it out and sorry to have distracted you though I'm not too sorry. lol ;=)

Peggy? Did you do an intro and I missed it? Welcome to the group!

I keep getting asked for a password. Haven't been able to see your auctions. Darn

But am enjoying the other albums.

Hi, Margie. I'm not sure whether I posted a proper intro or not? I joined the group because I had a question, and before I asked it I introduced myself. I am swamped today, but I will try to put together a better intro and post it just as soon as I have some time. Thanks for the welcome!

Aww, thanks, Margie. But I'm clutsy too!

I am now trying to figure out to do with some really cute bird beads. They have holes drilled right through their stomaches (front to back, not side to side).

*sighs* oh yeah, and when on earth to DO it... I have 5 assignments (3 of whcih are group assignments which actually are more frustrating and take longer then individual assignments no matter what anyone says) all due either just before or just after the bird fair. :(:( It looks like DH may have to go to the fair himself. I am confident about his being able to sell but I know he is going to get totally swamped with trying to set up by himself. Haven't been able to talk to my mom yet to see if she can help him. It also stinks that the "artist" won't be there to do the selling... although DH has made one birdie necklace himself which he is very proud of! (He made a couple of necklaces before, all of which are currently either on consignment or sold. He refuses to learn how to crimp his own though so I always have to be on hand :) ).

I'll tell him!

It is really depressing to him that even the dumb retail places he despises aren't calling back.

Frankly, this town is overfilled with students and spouces who have been dragged along with graduate students and professors and need jobs... there aren't enough to go around. Especially now that funding at the university has been slashed and a lot of the jobs there have been cut too.

It is always fun to blame "W" for this but I am doubtful Kerry knows a better way.

I can understand that.

In a way I am panicing now that I have sold so much of my stuff and don't have such a variety to show if and when I do shows or home parties or whatever... on the other hand, I really think I've improved a lot and am getting a somewhat different style now, and it is nice to have a lot of the older stuff cleared out.

And of course the opportunity to buy more beads! Trying to hold off, though....

Cool! I always write to people that I'd like to see what they end up doing with the kits, but noone but you has ever taken me up on it :)

I will probably be listing some more kits in the near future (probably AFTER Oct 6th or so, the end of my schoolwork pileup). Some will be relists but I hope to change around some of the kits and make some new ones. I still have tuns of pendants and other items that are neat but just don't fit in with what I want to do right now, which is where the kits come from :) .

I never noticed and that's the truth.

Did you come up with something? I'd think having holes in the stomach would be a bit hard to design around. Depending on the size of the birds you could wire wrap it as a pendant? Possibly?

Yikes! Well you knew you were taking on a full load of classes. Those take priority though I imagine your disappointment. Marisa, I've a couple of shows that were real sleepers, any chance of taking some homework and playing back up for your dh and mother? BTW, how is your mom doing?

That sucks! Pardon my crudeness, ma'am.

Too bad you don't have any extra cash laying about so that he could open up his own coffee house. Those places seem to flourish around the campus.

Well...first he has to get elected and then only time will tell. Dare we hope?

It is nice, isn't it? Don't worry too much though because your time is so limited. Spend it building up stock. I hope you haven't changed your style too much! I really like your jewelry, you know?

I don't always remember to do it either but I try. I will for you for sure!

Yes, yes, I think your pendants are very neat! Look forward to seeing what you come up with.

Oh, okay. I skip around a lot because this group is so lively. I probably missed your intro but will look for the next one. :=)

No auctions right now, Tina. I'm selling inventory from my Mirage album.

Great! I just added a family picture with my son! I rarely get photos of him so there weren't any up. I also added a picture of my daughter that just makes me sigh because I see the woman she is meant to be. Does she have to grow up?

Not yet but I haven't really tried yet (supposedly been doing my homework instead, but I have little to show for it so far).

I don't think I want to wire-wrap them... they are little and have sticking out bits (you know, beak, wings, feet) that I don't want to cover up. Maybe I don't understand how to use wire-wrap and that is a dumb comment. If so, this week is not the time to learn it if I want to produce something usable in less then no time! :)

I noticed that the creator makes strug bracelets out of them. They just sit sideways with the string going through their stomaches. Doesn't look bad... just birdies in profile. She uses 3 or so birds with large beads inbetween them for the bracelets... different from my style and I don't think I (=my customers) can afford a multiple-lampwork-bird-bead-bracelet, so I'm going to have to come up with something different... but maybe it will still have to be with birdies in profile.

Too bad because before I realized how the holes were going to go I had a cute idea for making it look like the birds were sitting on beaded ring/swings, using ring-sized memory wire. It would've worked if the holes went up and down or side to side but I can't figure out how to do it with the holes going through the middle!

Uhforutnately my mom can not come!

I think I am just going to have to go.

The difficult part is that hte two projects due after the show are both group projects. So, yeah, I can bring with reading etc on the trip, but I can't exactly meet wtih my group! I can't even respond back to emails during hte show itself, though I can at night. Because of the distances, we pretty mcuh will have to come up on Friday night and leave on Sunday (well, I guess we can leave right after the show on Saturday, but we will be tired. Oh and we can't leave right FROM the show because we have to get more jumk from my parents's basement to take with us. My dad can't seem to handle it being there any more since we said we would take it all by winter and according to him, winter has moved up to October 5th!?!?).

Yup.

Yeah.

He's thought a little about this type of thing (well, a computer store/coffee shop/vegan bakery). I said that before we could even think of it he'd have to read up on safety standards and on starting your own buisness, and come up with a real buisness plan.

So far that hasn't materialized :)

If something good happens it will be chance. I really believe it. But of course whoever is elected will take credit for it.

Really? Thanks!!

It is hard because nice shows are hard to get into, and I would want to start a year ahead... but right now I don't see how I'll know what I'll be doing.

Thanks!! I really appreciate it!

Not just that you put my link on your stuff (which is nice :) ) but mostly I am really curious to see what you end up doing with it!

Thanks!
