I had a ball making these yesterday. Ink blue, gold leaf and nice warm yellows and oranges. Hope you like them! Here's the link:

Susan in Canada - sitting with her hair wrapped in plastic wrap hoping the Blueberry Hill Fudge coloring she just applied will look OK - have a big banquet tonight with peeps from my former life as a therapist. Decided I might as well look like an artist :-)!

Go for it! That's what I did for my 25-year college reunion last year. I took 2 "evening" outfits for the fancy parties: a full-length gown tie-dyed in a spectacular double-spiral pattern in emerald, cobalt, and purple; and a lovely dark-green salwar kameez with gold beadwork on the yoke and hems. Wore only my own jewelry, and was very much into the persona of "The Artiste". Hey, I was gonna stick out like a sore thumb anyhow (Vanderbilt grads run to country-club Republicans), so I decided that I'd bloody well stick out on MY terms!

The salwar kameez sounds amazing - actually both outfits do. I wore a long, navy dress topped with a purple kimono jacket with green and blue maple leaves and glow in the dark stars, my custom cowboy boots (purple) and lots of my jewelry. and my newly purples bangs. But best of all was wearing some large scale jewelry pieces Ièd made for the occasion - a knit silver necklace with my beads, a bracelet to match and one of my fauxpal beads in a burgard ring. It was fun!!

Well, you can fly down here on Southwest from Detroit relatively cheaply -- and you'll probably save half the cost of the plane ticket by buying one here instead of there. We have a *large* Indian community, and a number of stores which cater to them. This means you're paying "regular clothing" prices rather than "fancy boutique import" prices. And you can get them in any style from "everyday" to "eveningwear" -- I have several, in various fabrics.

Celine,

That's only 2 1/2 hour drive for me. I love the Indian import places. Growing up we had only one restaurant in town and it was Indian. I loved ChaCha and he loved me coming every day. Yummiest food on earth!
