Recycle gold-filled scraps?

I recycle silver scraps, but I'm wondering what can be done with Gold-Filled wire scraps. Does anyone know if they're totally worthless or could they possibly be added to 10-14K *real* gold once it's melted down? TIA.

I'm afraid I can't help you there Linda. I've never quite understood what 'gold filled' means... LOL. I use silver, gold and some copper and that's about it.

Gold filled is the opposite of what it sounds like. In England it's called "rolled gold"

Gold-filled is just gold over base metal. If you save up enough of them, you can send them to a refinery and have the gold separated from the base metal. You need to have quite a bit to make it worth- while. Barbara Dream Master

Thank you all, Ladies. :) I have a mess'o old rings & broken gold necklaces that I wanted to have melted down and reformed. Just thought that it wouldn't hurt if I added the GF scraps I have. Thanks again! :)
