BAH plagiarists

Can some people please take a class in fostering creativity? How horrible it must be, to be so BORING.

A couple months ago I was taking a class from Jen Geldard up at Andrea Guarino's place in Portl Townsend (yes, I was in total HEAVEN). While I was there I was blessed with seeing them collaborate on an original piece that fetched about $1500 at auction; it's on Andrea's homepage:

Now Askoru Beads, as they so often do, have something SO ORIGINAL on their website:

I mean, could they have at least stacked the stick in a different spot? Used a dolphin instead of a bird? Oh wait no, of course not!

Kalera, Askoru's design is a totally rip-off. It makes me furious.

Must have taken it down - couldn't find it believe this was the same individual who copied Sharon Peterson stuff ??-- maybe they took a class from Jen recently - not uncommon that people try to copy something they saw in a class.... agreeably - not very creative - but sometimes its an exercise in technique the person just feels a need to do - keeping it for oneself would be one thing - selling it would be crass....

I saw the link before they took it down. They were blatant copies in different colors. That kind of stealing makes me furious!

The link still works - I just used it and saw the copies.

Yes, these are the people that copied Sharon Peters' stuff a while back. In fact, they copy A LOT of people's stuff. Very sad, because they are actually quite talented beadmakers when they do original work.

They are the same people who copied Sharon Peters' Jester; they copy lots of people, and sometimes I wonder if anything they make is an original design. It's kind of pathetic because they have the technical skills to do good work if they only came up with their own designs! They're in New Zealand, and no, they haven't taken a class from Jen or Andrea.

Wow! There's a lot of stuff out there that's pretty much public domain, and everyonce in a while I think the copying threads get out of control, BUT this one is really blatant!! They're not even trying to hide it!

Oh, I know - I saw this on another forum. It's ridiculous. It's almost as if Askorubeads actually prides themselves on copying others. They've done it so many times, and they admit it and even sort of laugh in everyone's faces. Makes me ill, actually, and I am one of the more leniant people when it comes to the copying issues.

Yes, this is the same couple who copied Sharon's jester bead.

Or, maybe you just have no contact with people like that ... (I'm sometimes amazed how many people I still don't know on the east side of the Big Island of Hawaii. I know I don't even know all the programmers, and I've been one of them for almost

20 years).

Or maybe they aren't even in NZ?

Actually everything on their site, I have seen somewhere else. Usually people like that don't make it for long.
