Case of bidder = seller?

I was outbid in this auction, but noticed a reasonable similarity here. Does this mean the seller changed their mind, or that it is just coincidence? Is it just me?!

I am hoping that it is two very different folks. If not, could it have been shill bidding? I'm going with my first instinct that it was two different folks. I hate to think about the second thought.

Looking at their IDs, histories and things for sale, they look like two different people.

I'm glad, I really like to think the best of people, not assume the worst.

I thought the opposite when I looked at their feedback history. It looks like one person that has one user ID for buying, one for selling. One of those IDs only has feedback from buyers, one only has feedback from sellers (on the first page of feedback, anyway).

I still would just assume that the person did change their mind, and it wasn't a shilling thing. Maybe just not wholly aware of eBay policies?

You could find out by emailing each one, if you were still curious.

The person with the auction has feedback from sellers and buyers. Just click on the new tabs for a better view of things.

I don't think it's shilling. The seller can cancel the auction. To let it run its course and outbid the current bidder means that s/he would pay the FVF (final value fee) on the higher price. Kinda dumb when the seller could just cancel the auction.

Can you cancel auctions that already have bids? I was wondering about this yesterday :o)

Yes, you can cancel the auction and all the bids OR you can end the auction and leave the bids intact which means you sell to the highest bidder at the time the auction is ended at the current price.

Agreed. People can and do search for names like their own just for fun.
