COMPLETELY OT - Stickers!

Back in the early 1980s when my stepchildren were about 10/12 years old, we collected stickers together. Now, keep in mind that back then, finding ANY kind of decorative sticker was somewhat of a coup. Suzy's Zoo, Mrs. Grossman... Those were all in the future.

As with everything else I do, I completely immersed myself in the Quest For Stickers. There was finally a magazine. Then sticker stores started showing up. There was no (functional for the masses) internet back then, so finding them was a challenge.

Bottom line, at the house where my ex lives is a Lane cedar chest with bajillions of stickers in it. Now look at this:

dear gods. they went for $25??!!??

but i'm with you, Tink. i bought stickers of every size, shape, and description. we still put stickers on the packages we send to Jamie - the others in the barracks get such a kick out of her packages, as they did in basic training, too.

but $25???????

**sigh** what a waste of bead money!

Hehehehe - I am an 80's child. I was born in 1973 and had most of my teenage years in the late 80's. This year I am turning 30. **sob** Seriously, I don't feel old, unless I am listening to the radio and they call an early 80's song a "flashback", "retro", and "an oldie". To me, retro is the 70's and an oldie is the 50's and 60's. :) But then I think about the fact that a lot of my favorite movies are more than 15 years old. Sheesh. :)

amen. but according to many radio stations, oldies are anything more than 30 years old. guess where that puts us . . .

well, i do have one that is 30.

her company did a management convention and for one of the events, they were supposed to come as an "oldies group". the people from her division decided on "Village People", and she kept telling them she wanted it perfectly clear that those were from her mother's generation

-not hers!

Getting away from the "old" topic on this thread but the stickers probably won't stick very well now. I used to give packets of Hallmark stickers at Halloween at that time period. When we got ready to move I found a bunch of them and put them in the garage sale. I opened several packets to give sheets to the kids that came but found the glue back was no longer much of a sticker.

I use small stickers now that have good shapes on them for resist for glass etching. Butterflies, stars, dots, fish, angels etc. You have to look at how the stickers are cut since many are not cut to the outline of the item.

What does it say?? It says age is relative and a state of mind. I dont feel old. There are papers around here that assure me that I was born in '57. I dont *feel* old most of the time. And I view the passing of time as ripening. I am a fuller, more rounded, juicy and delicious person than I was at 18. And I bet I could get more than 25.00 on Ebay! ha! Diana

I've used stickers for sandblasting, but I wasn't sure they would hold up to the etching solution. Do they give a nice, crisp edge as a mask?

This wouldn't be a problem for someone wanting them for scrappin' - I often use baby powder to remove the stickiness from the stickers I put in my books, LOL.

Kandice, I know how you feel...I'll be 32 in Nov. I have a hard time listening to the "music from the70's and 80's" stations in this area, because they do call them oldies...sigh. Oh, well. The 30's for me (cept for my medical issues) have been the best couple of years of my life so far. I've been able to figure out who I am and where I want to go, and i finally got a backbone with my parents. I really love my life now. I'm sure you'll have a good time in your 30's too!
