Corina Challenge - kinda AD

Apr 09, 2004 27 Replies

I just submitted some floral beads for Corina's April Challenge. Eek! It's been awhile since I have entered. Hopefully I am worthy. :) Here's a pic of what I entered, since I don't think my entry has been posted there yet. They are all cubes. I'll be listing them on ebay later on, so that's the AD part of this post. :) I'd love to know what you all think of these. :)

This month, the winner is picked by popular vote. So far not many entries yet, but I am sure that will change really quickly!

Kandice,

The cubes are loverly! I think you should have included some of your floral buttons, tho'!

Oh yeah! Make some for it, Kandice (the rules state that you can't enter beads made before the announcement of the contest). You gotta!! I think you can enter more than once -- I've seen people do it in previous Corina's Challenges. (Maybe you could ask her) ~~ Sooz

That's a good idea - I will definitely ask to see if that's okay!

Kandice:

Klunk is right. Just about fell off my chair those are so pretty. I always love your work.

Any tips on how you get such a perfect cube? I'm very cube challenged.

I went. I bid. AUGH! GLUUUGGHHHH They're on ebay now. :)

FFFFING love them and the bead caps too! Smashing work, Kandice!

The tool I use to do cubes is a parallel BBQ masher. You can get them for about $45 from Frantz, I believe. They make cubes very well. Just mash lightly, heat, mash lightly, etc. Make sure to melt all the stress marks out before decorating. That's about it! :)

Bead caps were from the sterling silver stash I got from Nicole (Black Cat Beads) today! Aren't they wonderful?

And those are indeed lovely cubes. The floral theme works better on them than on anything else (that I've seen) since the Fairy Cubes.

Ooooooo, those are great, Kandice! When's the deadline on the contest? I couldn't find it anywhere on the page. I'd like to make something for it.

Yeah, that is what I use too, but I get weird looking shapes. I'm thinking I need to start with a really really round bead, more ball shape than I normally make.

I think it's the end of the month. The only thing she has said about a deadline is that people can vote for their fave at the end of the month. The month being April, I presume. :) I'd love to see you enter - your florals are soooo pretty!

I went ahead and replaced the entry with one of my flower buttons, since people can only enter once. I love this flower, so I definitely want it in the contest. Here's a pic:

Don't know if it's good enough to win, but *I* like it. :)
