Craft Idea

Hi All,

It's been over a year now where once a month I get together with 8 of my friends & chit chat & have some great food & drinks. We've even come up with a name for us ladies. I want to create something with our group name on it & give them once each next month. I was thinking of making them a pin that way they can all wear it when we get to gether. I'd like to make it very elegant, maybe a few rinestones or something. Or is there some other craft that I make with our group name on it that it wear able & not tacky? if you have any links I'd love that too.

Thanks in advance.

Probably the easiest thing would be to do a transfer onto polymer clay, decorate the clay and attach a pinback.

What about making them with shrink plastic. You can get sheet to put through your printer and then shrink it in the oven.

You can make it decorative before you print it and then maybe stick some flat back rhinestones on afterwards. You glue a pin to the back of it. Shirley

I asked MaryT once about running shrink plastic through the printer - she said you had to have a special type of shrink plastic for it. BUT...you can use rubber stamps on shrink plastic (use dye-based inks) and they work great. Check out this site for some ideas:

I'm a great fan of gluing stuff on brooches - you could print out your club name, glue it down on say a wooden disk (they come in lots of shapes), glue ephemera, rhinestones, gem chips, whatever relates to your club. You probably want to seal the paper parts with clear acrylic varnish (it dulls rhinestones, so don't cover them), glue on a pin back, and voila, you're done! You can also use dimensional paint as "glue" - put a thick layer on your disk, and implant the rhinestones, etc., while the paint is wet. If you're gonna make several of the same thing, you could get a production line going. We'd love to see a scan of what you come up with!

I have some samples of this type of thing on my website, look under ETC./Blessed Pins.

And on auction: Using paint as "glue":

These - I glued holographic paper to a wooden disk, then glued vintage jewels to it:

I also have a lot of fun gluing shells to shell fragments, or pieces of poly clay. You could build a poly clay background and attach things to that, similar to this:

To see more shelly things, just look for my auctions called "Sea Shards". Why not make it a group project and gather materials and let the others get in on the creative process? They wouldn't necessarily have to be alike, let everyone express themselves! HTH
