I just had to share this with people who understand. :)
After months of whinging about not being able to get my hands on "regular size" crimping pliers, I finally bit the bullet and imported some. I also bought some 3mm tubes, and 1mm tubes for my "useless" micro-crimper.
The first time I saw that nice smooth barrel I was like, "WOOHOO!" I was even more thrilled when I did the same with the micro.
I was planning to experiment with making dangly earrings (w/out headpins) and was hoping the crimps would either be neat and regular, or not noticeable.
The only letdown was that I was unable to use the pliers with the softer base metal crimps I have. When I do the "fold", the crimp tends to twist no matter how carefully I work. (I'd appreciate any tips with these!)
And the "Asian" crimps we were discussing in a thread about a month ago are far too brittle to fold. I'll stick to flattening them with chain-nose pliers.
Happy happy joy joy! :D
