customs labels

I am about to send my bead wand swap across the pond. I am humming and hawing about the green customs declaration.

I was think of writing a Child's Play Wand on it. It will be a longish parcel.

Have you any thoughts on it. Shirley

I don't see why not. It IS a wand after all, and the recipient will be childishly happy to play with it.

I think you should make the return address "Diagon Alley".

Diagon Alley is the street that the students in the Harry Potter series buy their magickal school supplies.

That the alley in London where, according to the Harry Potter books, witches and wizards buy all their necessary equipment, clothing and potions. You also catch the train to Hogwarth, the witches and wizards training school, on track 9 1/2.

I would put "toy" on the customs form... I can't think of any other description that makes sense, really, since it's really not FOR anything but playing with, or religious use. "Childs Play Wand" is as accurate as it's going to get, I think! Maybe "Decorative Wand"?

I am in the same boat, Shirley, so let me know what you decide. My wand is headed across the pond as well.

I think I will stick with my original thought, after all Christmas is not far away and it would be something a doting grandma would send.

I just hope it gets there and not get lost like the bracelet I sent for the swap. If I insure it ,it only covers it whilst it is in this country.

I will only put a low value on it as well. Shirley

You can get it insured using something like AirSure that will require the recipient to sign for it and insures it up to £30 no matter the destination. It's an extra £3.30 but worth the certainty that it's going to get there safely.

Was that you that left the wet towel on the floor?

I think I'll put 'Adult Entertainment Device' on my label. Um... maybe not, considering the things they disapprove of these days under the Patriot Act. How about 'Holiday Decorations'.

I'm sure it will be a holiday for those who get our gorgeous works and for those who send us theirs! :-)

Thanks Su, That was the service I was talking about but was told that the insurance bit only worked while it was in UK. I was probably given duff info. Shirley
