Hi all!

After about 1-2 years of lurking, I decided it was finally time to post. =) I'm also awful at introductions, so please forgive how 'stiff' this sounds.

My name is Kimberly, hailing from the lovely city of Phoenix, Arizona. I've been beading off and on for. . oh, 6 years maybe? I would do a few projects here and there, but it was never the passion that it is now. And by passion, I mean *addiction*!!! haha. . .

Actually, I had my bead budget pretty well under control, until I actually got a job at a beadstore. I wasn't even looking for a job! The owner (a semi-friend of mine, now known as The Coolest Boss in the World) of the shop called me one day while I was getting ready for work and offered me the job. I put in my notice at my old job that day =)

I LOVE WORKING IN A BEAD STORE!!! And I have learned so much working there- everyone who comes in has a little bit of knowledge they are willing to trade. I love going home and trying out their suggestions- bliss, I tell ya =)

I love reading this group because it seems to embody the spirit of beaders- friendly, intelligent, good for a laugh and a shoulder to cry on. Beaders are a big-hearted bunch!! You all are so great- it's been a joy reading this NG for so long!

So far I have been perfecting my wire-wrapping techniques- I made a necklace a few days ago out of wire and pearls- I'm pretty proud of it, and now my mind is racing with ideas. I'm waiting on a shipment of pearls to get here- I already know what my next necklace is going to look like (hopefully) =) If it turns out not-awful, would it be ok to post a link here? I have a bad eye for seeing how things go together sometimes, I'd like some input. Pretty please?

Ok, I think I have rambled on long enough today- I hope to join into some conversations, when I actually have something useful to add =)

Lucky girl working at a bead store... I would prolly go home with no pay left at all!!!

Hi Kimberly, Welcome to the group. It is nice to have you here. It must be great to work in a bead shop. We have very few solely dedicated to beads here in UK. My nearest one is a half days trek away, so have to rely mainly on mail order and my lovely pals in USA.

It is nice to get new people here. This group as been in the doldrums lately, so maybe the winds are springing up again and fillings the beading sails once more. Please let us see pictures of your work. Shirley

Hi Kimberly,

I'm piggy-backing here because my server has been so inconsistent downloading messages (so I didn't get your original post).

I think working in a bead shop would be a dream come true and also my worst nightmare! I spend so much time with beads as it is! What bead store do you work in. I met lampworker Karen Sherman, of Desert Dreamer in Phoenix when I visited there.

Having a someone from a bead store here is a great asset to the group.

I totally dig working at a bead store, but yes, it can be a bit dangerous =) I'm constantly telling my boss that he can pay me in beads (that's where it all goes anyways!). The greatest thing about working there, though, is

*not* the beads, actually- it's the atmosphere and the peace of mind I get being in there. I used to work a lot of corporate retail jobs, and never really got on too well, because I'm a bit of a weirdo and don't deal well with people treating me like snot because I'm in a service industry.

Thing about beaders, though- we are a laid-back bunch =) I go into work and take in all the good, creative vibes of my customers and float on it all day =) This job has done wonders for my sanity =) Love it love it love it!

I work at a little store called Beadrageous. Go ahead, giggle at the name- I do =) There are only about 2-3 employees, and the owner, so it's a pretty cozy place. I have learned TONS about beads and gems since I started there, but I still get the feeling that I am only scratching the surface. My boss knows more about gemstones than anyone I know- and he says *he's* still learning!

Desert Dreamer. . . that sounds very familiar- does she post here? Or sell on JustBeads? That name is ringing a big bell. . .

How did you like Arizona? I've lived here all of my life (save for a few months) and still cannot get over how beautiful the desert is. I'll probable never leave here again!
