Don'tcha just love it? Translations on eBay

I was browsing through the lampwork today (really? You look at lampwork auctions? Bwa ha ha ha!) Sorry, just having a moment....

Ennyhoo, here I was doing a search on lampwork and this auction appeared. I think it's a cute idea, I love all that sort of quasi-mystical stuff ....

The thing that caught my eye and made me laugh was the note under the 'condition - new' on the left just above the auction description. Now, I have a bit of trouble once in a while understanding Scottish accents, normally Glaswegian ones but this is a bit silly. You have to read the auction really carefully to catch it, though.

And yes, I think I want one of those pendants. I wonder if they'll do the run in a colour of my choice. I'm an ash... that's ASH with an H thankyouverymuch!

Yeah, but take a look at the description of the attributes for November in the table. Now, some people have described me from time to time as being an air-head (more often in my youth, rather than now), but I don't think I've ever been "headless" of the past...

ROTFLMAO!!

That translation thing, though. You never know. I mean, we have discussions all the time over here about what the definition of "is" is. It's quite possible there's some wiggle room on "new" too! Lots of things get lost in translation. Could be it should have been gnu, or knew or even "nu." But it's possible eBay just works on the idea that anything that comes from a 'foreign' country needs translation because all foreigners speak a foreign language, nu??

heh... I like the "nochex" part.. meaning No checks. LOL... (I'm imagining someone sending them some Corn Chex cereal in payment) :D

nochex is a payment service over here like paypal.

I think. It took debit cards before paypal did. I think! Anyway, it's meant to replace cheques electronically.

Hmmm... one of the Horrible Siblings was born in November... headless sounds like a Good Thing in their case.

The irony of course is that the company is Scottish.

Yep. It's an online payment system for the UK, but it should be NoCheques if they wanted to be accurate. Wonder if it was lost in translation?
