I dunno what you mean by "all that prep." I just cut a 3'-4' piece and stretch it between my hands for a few seconds. (Sometimes longer, if I zone out...) ;-)

I've heard of folks stretching it with weights overnight and so forth, but that seems like over-kill to me.

These super fishing lines come in three types. They have a monofilament which is good for monofilament but still biodegrades mare than you want. I have used "fused" line which I find a little stiff for good knots, and also braided which has a beautiful drape. The lighter weights are harder for me to find. I think the light weights might be used in fishing for fly fishing. The stuff is expensive, until you compare it to something like the

49 strand "wires". It's expensive per spool, but not bad per project (or foot/meter).

Not Fiskars scissors in general, just the kids' scissors.

It's a no go. An Exacto knife works, but I can't always get it where I want it.

I own the embroidery scissors, too. They don't work with the Spectra lines. The children's ones (under a buck at the discount store) are the only thing that works well. In a pinch, nail clippers work too, but not nearly as well as the children's Fiskars.

I found out my "will cut through a penny!" kitchen shears will cut it clean.... At least, while they are new, and not having cut any pennies.... Kaytee "Simplexities" on

I think that what is locally available is going to depend on what type of game fish are available locally. The smallest here is 10#, but you can find it "on the rack" up to 100# occasionally-- albacore is one of the "sport" fish here.
