Day didn't start out well as I was up until 6 AM this morning stressing about school stuff. And I am sure once I get back to that I won't be happy.
BUT I just made the final part of a deal with a little shop in Nashville, IN. It is run by two sisters and I met them in the office of one of them who is a professor at the university here (luckily not in my area :) ; she is an anthropology professor. I had wanted to ask her about that because it seems to cool but I was too blasted to do more then try to keep my story straight on the jewelry).
Somehow my stuff must hit just right on them because they liked almost all of it (often I get people who just like certain parts of it, if that makes sence). It was so fun to hear them oohing and ahhing and pressing eachother to get certain things. While I was adding up the list they were whispering too eachother and saying "it would be better to buy from her and get really nice things then to order from [someplace else]". I just wish I had my REALLY nice stuff to show them (the best stuff already is out on consignment in Geneva...not that I mind that :) ) DH was thrilled that they took two of his pieces too.
They ended up taking 45 pieces (including earrings) on wholesale!!! I was astonished when I added it all up. When I was writing down the prices it was hitting me in the gut because I had to give wholesale prices of $10 or so to so many pieces that took me so long to make, whcih means I will only actually "make" a couple of dollars on most pieces... I know if I had applied one of those formulas people here have recommended I would've gotten more money for my time.. but then, I;m not sure the "retail" prices would be ones the market would bare. Same old quandry. Either way...DH sais my money is a "clean slate" (I started keeping a separate bank account for the jewelry stuff in the spring), so he claims I can just use it further and not think back on the *gulp* tuns of money I have spent on beads in the past.... Thought of that way, the check I got from them looks pretty nice :)
Now I have to think about replacing stock before the bird show as well as making the new bird things. Which is a huge joke because I don't have time to even get my school work done and these weierd other things grad students seem to be unofficially required to do!
