Haunted House Update: OT

Yes, well, I understand what you mean. I've been in a house with a "history", though it was nothing as spectacular as Tink's experience. I guess I made an effort to replace my fascination with that emotional distance that "florentine" talked about. I think Tink is calm enough about the situation to do this. Just trying to say that there can be a downside. If you leave a door open, you don't know what will come in. I'm saying it's better to politely and pleasantly keep the door closed.

The only reason I end up sitting up at noises at night, is because they're usually made by Joshua! DH usually sleeps through most of the night feeds.

This had me in silent and painful hysterics when I read it at work the other day, Tina! I reckon a moose in the yard would give me a heart attack!

Interestingly, they're a perfect match. Gwyn is a little unique, and doesn't use electric clocks, doesn't have a VCR (she does co-own my DVD player) and though she does have a laptop for her writing, she rarely uses it plugged in... it's always with the batteries.

The house had a very bad fire in the 20's, so she thinks it might relate to that somehow. The ghost also turns the stove off, though she almost never unplugs it. She has unplugged it only twice in the four years I've been friends with Gwyn, and it's a real hassle pulling it out and plugging it back in.

I thought I had vanquished my ghost. I didn't realize I had ghosts (plural). I got rid of the mean old man, but last night I saw a woman in a white gown on the stairs. Freaked me out. Now I know what those noises are! Barbara Dream Master

I'm afraid the first thing that went through my head was a schtick from "Rocky and Bullwinkle":

Bullwinkle: Are they friendly spirits? Rocky: Friendly? Just watch ...

and then we cut to a commercial.

Being a true Rocky and Bullwinkle freak, I have to amend it:

Rocky: Are they friendly spirits? Bullwinkle: Friendly? Just listen...

Of course my favorite is "Fan mail from some flounder?"

Oh, yes. You're right. I remember now.

I think my favorite bit was the little street sweeper with the highly mobile moustache, silently cleaning up the streamers and confetti at the end of the credits for Fractured Fairy Tales.

Amongst his many talents, Prairieson does cartoon voices... Dudley Doright, Cecil, Bullwinkle... Even Goliath from "Davey and Goliath"! He often does these voices at... um... weird times. And that's all I have to say about that.

LOL!

I loved Rocky and Bullwinkle. I can do a mean Natasha. I loved to watch Bullwinkle do magic tricks and say "nothing up my sleeve" then tear his sleeve off. Always cracked me up.

Not much to tell. I was stumbling from the bathroom to bed. Half asleep already, when I glanced down the stairs. She was standing on the landing where the stairs turn, looking toward the wall beside the front door. I kept walking for a couple of steps (momentum), stopped, backed up and she was gone. But I had continued to hear occasional footsteps on the stairs even after mean-old-man was gone. I chalked it up to the settlings of an old house. No more! One day I have to do a search on this property. There was another house just in front of mine at one time. My house was a horseless carriage repair with an apt. upstairs. The front house burned to the ground decades ago. The foundation is still there, under my lawn. The back door sill (concrete) is in the flower bed just outside my kitchen window (which used to be a door leading to the back door of the burned house).
