Also have a Q: What crimp beads do you like? the tubes seem to crack on me almost every time, have had better luck w the corrugated looking crimp beads.

Are you using base-metal crimps? They are notorious for cracking. I've never had a problem with that on sterling or gold-filled crimp tubes. If you are using good-quality metals, perhaps your technique needs some work -- is there a local bead store where you could go for a demonstration?

Are you using base metal or plated crimps? Those will crack terribly. Try using sterling or goldfill and be sure to use a good quality, original crimping pliers, too.
