I did do the tongue on the metal cup once on purpose, as an adult? um..sort of... just because its the one thing that squicks DS out totally. For me its fingernails being bent backwards, for him its tongue stuck on freezing metal. Diana

That's pretty much why *I* did it too. Mom said no but she didn't say why.
If it's cold enough (minus 30 or 40), the water can actually freeze and bond the tongue to the metal faster than it melts the ice! Then losing bits of your tongue is not only inevitable, but practically life saving.
