I've Been Spooned!

Yes, indeed. Shirley gifted me with two wonderful spoons and the opportunity to learn how to bead them. Thank you Shirley!!

Shirley and I did a private bracelet swap and while I like the one I sent her it doesn't compare in craftsmanship to the one she sent me. I absolutely love this very light and comfortable bracelet which fits me perfectly and done in my favorite color of blue!

Here's pics of the bracelets, see for yourself.

How cool. I'd heard about Shirley's spoons. Will you have pictures of them when they've been beaded, please?

I think you both did yourselves proud.

I have a Shirley spoon AND bracelet, and while the spoon delights me to no end (it's SO CUTE!) the bracelet is utterly drop-dead. It arrived out of the blue as a BFNR, and I wept and then wore it to dinner for several days straight. It's fringy and lovely and makes me smile every time I see it.

The bracelet Margie made me is much better in real life than a picture. It fits perfectly and looks beautiful on.

I do not think anyone has beaded their spoons before. I believe that most are used as bead scoops or just ornamentation.

I have not had much luck in finding more spoons lately. I probably cornered the market last year.

Maybe I will find something in Malta. Shirley

Oddly, I use my spoon every day -- for its intended use, salt.

It is a long story. I am Shirley. A year or two ago I found an antique condiment spoon which I found very useful for scooping beads up, also it was good for sorting beads turned the other way round.

So when I made exchanges for beads etc. I started to send a tiny spoon to the people I have done exchanges with. It became known as Shirley's Spoon Club. Not everyone has one of these spoons.

I go to antiques fairs and I look out for these little treasure. Everyone who has one will tell of its usefulness and of course it reminds them of me a person they have never met.

I have not known anyone who has beaded them, but it could happen.

I think Tina prefers to leave her spoon as it is. It is one of classical lines.

Every spoon that I have sent has been used by me to put my good vibes on it. Shirley

Hello -

I have just very recently discovered this message board and have been reading your posts with much interest. I am especially curious about the beaded spoon that you are talking about - everyone here seems to know what that is but I have never heard of such a thing - can you explain what this is?

Many Thanks!

Oh yes! It's perfect. And using it as a salt spoon, I DO use it every day.

On the other hand, I have little white plastic spoons, from Pete's ginseng extract, that I think would look cool with pastel beaded handles. Only trouble is, these tiny spoons would probably look like paraphernalia.

But of course, dahlink! Right now I need to gather my wits about me and get going on some items for my 2nd annual arts show in November.

What a novel idea! LOL What do you use for a salt container?

Thank you, Anna. I'm not really putting my skill down so much as I'm bowing to a true Renaissance Woman. :=)
