I would like to try my hand at bead making, but only as a hobby. I have a good supply of borosilicate capillary scrap that I could use and a propane/oxygen torch. Would someone be kind enough to point me in in the right direction? Either a good starter book or website for beginner's would be great. Thanks!

hmmm....I think a good book to start would be Bandu Scott Dunham's Contemporay Lampworking. It may be a bit more information then you need, but that is the way to go. You will need to get some mandrels and bead release. If you are just practicing then you won't need to get a kiln - but if you decide to graduate forward you will need one to anneal the beads and to bring up some of the colors in colored borosilicate glass. I'm not sure that the capillary glass will give you a real boro experience - but heck it's a start!
