Hey folks. I'm new to the group and I was wondering if any of you had any suggestions on how to get traffic

Try placing google ads on your site. Constantly update the information on your site (add content), when spiders track your site, they will see constant updates and your search ranking will go up.

Don't forget about print advertising to help drive traffic. The web is no longer an automatic draw for traffic, you need to work just as hard for web traffic as you do for brick & mortar storefront traffic.

Pretty loaded question! :) Link exchanges with like sites often help. Paid advertising helps. Submitting sites to search engines helps. Nothing happens very quickly though. Really good targetted website traffic can take months, even years, to build.

I like craft site medic.

Have content people want to read. (Search engines like text!) Have content people want to see. (People like pictures.)

It is geared toward artists, but I'm sure it could help crafty types immensely.

Good luck, Christine

Just like MBStevens said... have good content and make sure your site is interesting to look at. If its a product you are selling, then make sure its something people want to buy. You might also try coding some creative meta tags, list your site with as many search engines as you can find, consider advertising on the web and in print around your town. Run a special, list it in your newspaper and include your sites URL in the ad. Hell, there are so many ways to draw attention to your site, you just have to do some online research (try Google) to find out how to get the best exposure and think outside the box.

I look under "T" in the music section at Borders. "Low Spark of High Heeled Boys" is a favorite. Anyone else like Traffic, here?
