My Seashell Tutorial

Mar 03, 2006 19 Replies

Hi Y'all,

Just wanted to let you all know that I have a tutorial on my seashells coming out in the next issue of "The Flow" magazine. I was so excited when they contacted me and said that they wanted to publish my beads! I've been lampworking for about 19 months now and still have not been able to take any classes. Everything I have learned about making beads has been from books and tutorials I have found on line. I thought by doing a tutorial on my seashells, this would be a great way to hopefully give something back to the generous beadmaking community that has helped me get to where I am in my own beadmaking.

Wow, Dawn. How cool. Hopefully I can get hold of a copy of the magazine, will you autograph it for me? :-D

I'm still so proud to own your beads, I'm wearing earrings made from a set I bought from you.

I would never have thought you've been making beads for less than two years. Goes to show that it's talent as much as anything and an affinity for glass that does it.

Dawn, Congratulations on the article!! I love the seashells I've bought from you!

Patti

Congratulations!!! I haven't seen this magazine before. Do they have a website?

Thanks Connie! Yes they do have a website. Here's the link....

Thanks Su! I've never been asked for my autograph before....LOL! You're such a sweetheart and I'm so glad you like your beads! Maybe now if you get a copy, you can talk Mike into trying a few shells for you. I think he would find them very relaxing and easy to do compared to the precise dot placement he's used to.

Thank you so much, Patti! =o) I'm so glad you're happy with your shells!

I see the current issue has a step by step with (sigh) Shannon Hill....

I know. Actually that was the issue before the last one and I didn't get a copy. Isn't Shannon Hill the one that does the awesome "inside-out" beads? Maybe I should see if a back issue is available.

Would you? And yes, he does do those awesome inside-out beads. His work is incredible. And he's not too hard on the eyes, either. He's making me a glass urn for the ashes of my fur-baby, Bobo.

Linda2

Congratulations Dawn, that's fantastic! I love your beads!

Dawn:

Congrats. That is so cool. Your seashells are the bestest! I'll have to hunt down a copy of this mag on of these days and this might be the excuse I need. :)

Lara

Oh Linda, I'm so sorry about your Bobo. But what a beautiful place Bobo will have to rest.

The back issues are available on the website. The one with Shannon Hill is Volume 3, Issue 1, just in case you want to pick up a copy.

Thanks Jerri! I can't hardly believe they contacted me. Little ole me!

Thanks Lara! It really is a nice magazine. I got my first copy a few months ago and was just in awe over the artists in there. Made me kind of feel like a little speck in the beadmaking world!....LOL! You can order a subscription from their website, or just get one specific issue by contacting them. Here's the link again in case you didn't see it further up in the posts.

Thank you. He crossed the Rainbow Bridge last year at the fine old age of

Thanks again. I'll have to order a copy of the one you're in as well. The local B&N doesn't carry it.

Thanks for the info Dawn, I'm going to need to check it out.
